a little about martini in the morning

“There's a great jazz radio station on the internet, appropriately called ‘Martini In The Morning', and originates from the Standard Radio Corporation in Sherman Oaks, CA. MITM is the musical creation of Brad 'Martini' Chambers, whose background in the music biz is decades long and extremely impressive -- as a short read of his bio on the MartiniInTheMorning.com website will quickly reveal.

MITM features lots of old time jazz standards and new ones too! Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett are definite winners. Others in this illustrious grouping include: Louis Prima and Keely Smith, Rosemary Clooney, Peggy Lee, Lena Horne, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Lionel Hampton, Les Paul and Mary Ford, Tom Jones, Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Bobby Darin, Mel Torme, Della Reese, Sarah Vaughan, Paul Anka, Bette Midler, Diana Krall with B.B. King … and the list goes on!

Listening to all these wonderful artists one after the other, is like old times for this writer who as a child in the 1960s, grew up watching many of these artists' performances featured on top TV variety shows like The Ed Sullivan Show, Dean Martin, Judy Garland, and Tom Jones. They were also part of the talent lineup on many memorable variety hour specials with Jack Benny and Bob Hope -- and even the short-lived but extremely entertaining Leslie Uggams Show, which in one memorable episode featured Lena Horne as special guest singing with Horne-lookalike, Uggams.

MITM also plays some delightful jazzy surprises, including: George Benson, Smokey Robinson, Mac 'Dr. John' Rebenack, Toni Tennile, Aaron Neville, Elton John, Jack Sheldon, Harry Connick Jr., Jane Monheit, Rod Stewart, Patti Austin, Michael Bolton, Bobby Caldwell, Debby Boone, Robbie Williams, Linda Ronstadt, Michael Buble, Bono, Sting, Robert Palmer, James Taylor, Carly Simon and Steve Tyrell.

Many of these artists are familiar to listeners, from their '70s to '90s pop and rock fame -- but they also excel in the jazz world, and seem 'born to it'!

Chambers began this 'internet jazz feast for the ears' as a labor of love ... and it shows in all the positive vibes that come from each and every song played on this extremely upbeat station ... a musical 'variety hour' of a sort, that listeners can enjoy 24/7, commercial free!

Martini In The Morning.com is an internet jazz station that jazz fans can definitely leave on all the time, without getting tired of listening to its highly enjoyable and varied play list.

Well, I guess it's back to some great jazz listening on Martini In The Morning ...
